Black Flag’s new bass player

It dawned on me: Black Flag did not have a bass player. I could be that bass player! I decided right then and there to find out where Ginn was living, hitchhike across the country, and persuade him to let me try out—just as I had attempted to do at 16. I knew all the old songs, and I figured that thumbing it instead of flying or taking a bus would prove to Ginn that I had dedication.

Mozilla unveils browser-based Unreal Engine 3 using JavaScript | Joystiq

Firefox producer Mozilla teamed up with Epic Games to bring Unreal Engine 3 to the web, without the need for plugins such as Flash. Mozilla and Epic took only four days to port Epic’s engine to the web by using JavaScript code. The results, as demonstrated by this video unveiled at GDC, certainly look impressive.

Sequel to ‘SLC Punk’ to begin shooting this summer

The sequel to the 1998 indie film, SLC Punk will be shooting this summer. The new film will look back at the lives of the original film’s main characters given the 18 years which have passed since the events of the film. It’s currently titled Punk’s Dead but no word on who will be returning for the film.

First sleep and second sleep

One of my goals this year is to improve my sleeping quality as a way of reducing stress and shedding some fat. This article popped up in Feedly–it’s a good reminder of an issue I read about from Mark Sisson a couple of years ago, what he called biphasic sleep. I have had this experience of waking up around midnight, especially when I’ve been giving myself more time to be in bed. When it happens, I will listen to a podcast in the dark for an hour. I have no reason to worry about it or label insomnia.
